What is IPL? |
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light
which is a non-laser system capable of producing an intense beam of light of
varied wavelength. The Pulse Duration, the length of time the light beam is
active, varies from a billionth of a second to many minutes, depending on
the treatment.
The system is designed so that
unusable and short wavelength rays, such as ultra-violet (UV), are filtered
out and therefore cannot cause the patient any harm.

|
Is it safe? |
Yes. The light from the Ecolite system
is completely safe, hence no special precautions need to be taken. The
Ecolite treatment is non-invasive. Some patients may experience a mild
discomfort during the treatment but this is wholly natural.
|
|
Is it a permanent solution? |
Unlike traditional methods of hair removal,
the Ecolite IPL treatments are very effective at denaturing the hair
follicles. Once the follicle stops producing hair there will be no more
hair left to remove.
Studies have shown that by using the IPL
treatment it is possible to remove hair permanently, furthermore up to
80% reduction in hair growth, post treatment, is achievable.

|
What is involved? |
A glass applicator is placed on the skin and
the intense light from the Ecolite system passes through it and is
absorbed by the pigment melanin, this is what gives hair its colour. The
absorbed light is transferred to the surrounding cells in the form of
heat and this affects the natural function of the hair producing
cells, stunning their ability to produce hair. With continued treatments
the cells will become less and less effective at producing hair.

|
What are the benefits? |
The Ecolite treatment is non-invasive, much
more cost effective than certain other treatments and is safe. It can
permanently remove hair quickly and is a clean way to fight unwanted
hair.

What preparation is required prior to
treatment? |
We suggest an initial free no obligation
consultation to determine not only whether the Ecolite treatment is the
right treatment but to also thoroughly explain everything that is
involved with it including preparation.
|
|
How many sessions will be required? |
Again, this is a question that can only be
answered upon a consultation as hair growth, skin condition and certain
other factors are all taken into consideration before determining how
many sessions will be required. However, as a guideline, we recommend on
average six sessions.
